Hello, my name is Tamara King. My husband and I have a son named Damon who has Spina Bifida. When I first learned that my son would be born with Spina Bifida I was scared and confused. And to be honest, I was a little bit bitter. I was watching so many people around me getting pregnant by accident and their children have no health issues. Here I am with a child that my husband and I had planned and worked so hard for, that was being diagnosed with a condition that we knew little about. I was always asking myself questions such as "Was this my fault?" "Did I do something wrong?" And "Will he be ok? " Of course, even through it all, not once did my husband and I feel any type of regret. Damon was not born yet, but we loved him just the same. Since Damon’s birth, there have been many ups and downs but we were prepared for it. And despite everything, he is happy, which is all we can really ask for. Damon is sixteen months old and he is everything to us. Damon does not let Spina Bifida or any of his other conditions slow him down. Damon is not walking or sitting up yet, but he is working hard on it. We keep our faith and pray that he will overcome and be the best that he can be. Damon is the smartest, sweetest kid I know and we would not trade him for anything. I joined Rolling With Spina Bifida to get information on the condition and meet people living with it or parents just like my husband and I. Walk N Rolling With Spina Bifida has been the best thing that could happen to us. We have met some great folks and found great resources in our community to make his life a bit easier. And for that I say, thanks. God bless. ❤😊
