Hey everyone!!! I’m LeAnn! I was born with Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida with hydrocephalus. The level of my paralysis is L3-L4 . I do have a neurogenic bladder and also severe constipation. I have neuropathy in my right leg. I have a slight limp to my walk , so school was a bit difficult for me as my peers didn't understand what I was going through.
Now that I'm older I have learned to make the best of every day that I have. I have a son that turned 18 in March and also a baby girl that is 9 months old. Before I got pregnant with Zoey we (my boyfriend of 3 years and I) hiked and enjoyed dinner dates.
I am not much into sports. But I can say that in the past 5 years I have lost 64 pounds and I have gotten much stronger with the help of a personal trainer and the utmost strength of my boyfriend. If I had any advice for parents of children with disabilities I would say never ever judge a book by its cover. I feel like even saying I have a disability is almost untrue but I do have the scars and the body to show for it. Every day can be a struggle or it could be the best day of your life. It is what it is. I am truly a 41 year old woman with Spina Bifida. It will never have me!
