Joshua’s Journey

Joshua Dickinson a 30 year old man from Hamilton Ohio has myelomeningocele Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus and is incontinent . Because of paralysis from Spina Bifida , Joshua uses a manual Quickie XL 1 wheelchair to get around , Josh takes Ditropan every day to control his Neurogenic bladder and wears depends in case of accidents, Depakote and Carbatrol to treat seizures. In his family , Joshua is the middle child of 6. There are 3 older and 3 younger . While in school Joshua remembers his elementary years being the hardest In result of being bullied by children. Middle and high school were the easiest years for Joshua. Joshua's favorite subjects in school were history and science and his least favorite subject was Math . Math is usually the hardest subject for children with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida.

In his spare time Joshua likes to help individuals with Spina Bifida and other disabilities through Facebook groups such as Walk N Rolling With Spina Bifida and Staying Strong With Mental Health and to name a couple . Joshua also likes to play video games and listen to music on his IPod .

Having Spina Bifida has taught Joshua to be there for others for support and friendship who have Spina Bifida and other disabilities . Joshua's advice for those with a disability for now and in the future " Do your best to enjoy your life one day at a time "
