Get Out Of Your Chair

Barbara Gonzalez was born with Spina Bifida. Barbara walked, climbed stairs and got around with the assistance of crutches. Despite her physical and learning disability, she lives an active social life. She worked in the administrative field for 30+ years. Until the age of 40 when a tumor and cyst on her spine would weaken her legs. She would eventually need the use of a manual wheelchair.
Barbara would have to find her “new normal.” For the next six years, her faith in God and herself would be challenged. Unable to get around as she used to, she felt betrayed by her body. For the first time in her life, she felt disabled. After working on herself, she overcame chronic depression. In 2017 she founded “Get Out of Your Chair” a website and Facebook page geared toward spiritual growth and personal expansion.
Barbara hopes that through her experience, others will be able to overcome their obstacles, their limiting thoughts and live a life of happiness. Today, despite her physical and learning disability, she lives an active, fulfilling life. Barbara uses every opportunity she can to educate and inspire others to live a full and happy life. She is a poet, a writer, and a spiritual and personal growth motivator. She also enjoys the arts, collecting antique compasses and adult coloring books.
