Ali Moore was born with the birth defect Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida and mild Hydrocephalus. She doesn’t have a shunt. She also lives with Scoliosis . Ali uses a wheelchair full time to get her around .
Ali doesn’t have any function below her belly button. The feeling she does have is very small and Sporadic . Ali does have Incontinence . She has a colostomy and catheterizes her self every 2-3 hours . She has a caretaker come in 3 times a week to help her with everything including her domestic chores
In Ali’s spare time she enjoys playing piano. She loves music and gigs. She also likes adult coloring books. Ali love animals and has a cat named cookie that is very sweet and cuddly with her . Ali also enjoys visiting with friends.
I asked Ali what kind of advice she had for those with Spina Bifida or other disabilities and she said “ Focus on what you can do not what you can't do.” “ Surround yourself with others who see you for your personality.”
