Outside with Spina Bifida

My name is Shaun Tackett . I just turned 40 and live in Fort Wayne Indiana. I was born with Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida. I’m a very positive person. Spina Bifida only affects my standing time and walking distance . However, I never let it hold me back from doing what I want in life. In my spare time , I love to be outdoors hunting and fishing and fishing in bass tournaments. I also love music and I play guitar every d

My future goals are to continue to advance in my career as a CAD Designer at Zimmer Biomet. I love my job and take great pride in helping others better their lives with our implants. I also want to play another gig with a musician who’s influenced me in so many ways to be the best I can be and achieve goals.
My advice for those with disabilities is to set daily goals and reward yourself for achieving them. Set short term goals mean a few months to accomplish and reward yourself when achieved and set long term goals.
Short term goals make it easier to achieve long term goals because it eliminates dwelling on the time it takes to achieve a long term goal. Also surround yourself with positive people who like to laugh and encourage others to do the things in life that bring us joy.
I was once a negative person with a bad attitude when a finally changed and added this positive foundation to my daily life my overall quality of life change in a positive way. I understand struggles we all face with disabilities but I know we all have the strength and determination like no other and when we use our abilities in a different but positive way it most definitely pays off in the future.
